A great Good Friday

So the Easter weekend has begun, and that means everyone and their pet iguana wants to be out and about, add to that it was a really nice day and I was beginning to think we wouldn’t be able to go anywhere without being mobbed by people.

We decided to avoid the city centre and head for some greenery again, so Fletcher Moss park in Didsbury was our victim. We arrived in time to have a bit of lunch in the sun, having never been it was a really nice surprise.

Flowers are always nice to see and so a combination of warm weather nice flowers made the day a success.

There were plenty of people here, however I think they were all from the city given they didn’t smile or say hello very much. Sad times when you feel a bit of a weirdo being friendly.

One of the techniques I hadn’t really tried before was using my 55-300mm lens as a closeup lens for flowers. Usually I use a 90mm macro, but handheld and at speed the shallow depth of field can lead to the shot not looking exactly as I want it without really pumping the f stop up. Anyway, I thought I would have a go at using my telephoto and I am really pleased with the results. I noticed a fair amount of vignette on the photos, however at this close the flowers really stand out and in this instance I was happy with the shots.
